January is here, and it’s National Train your Dog Month. Presented by the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). It’s the perfect time of year for you to learn how simple, fun and rewarding it can be to have a dog, if they are trained well.
National Train Your Dog Month aims to raise awareness to the public about the importance of proper dog training and socialization. The APDT chose January because so many people get new dogs or puppies during the winter holidays.
Did you give your dog some new toys this year or have you been thinking about it? Toys are a form of enrichment and improve the quality of life for your dog and are often incorporated into a training plan. Training your dog does not have to be a chore. Actually, it can be a lot of fun for both you and your dog. Plus, it helps create and strengthen the bond between the two of you. The Northern Virginia area has many dog training classes and instructors that can help you in the New Year. Training your dog keeps him mentally stimulated, satisfied, and out of trouble, and is an investment that will help you create the positive relationship with your dog that you will both cherish.
