Clicker Training

Q: I hear alot about "clicker training". What is it?

A:  Clicker Training is a form of training that combines both Operant and Classical Conditioning.

In a nutshell, when your dog responds positively to a command, the clicker is used to signal that the behavior was correct and a reward is coming.

This method came about in the 1960's but really took off in the 1990's. It was first successfully used to train dolphins.

Clicker training may be an option for you pet. But there are many different schools of thought when it comes to pet training. Be sure to research and select the method that feels right for both you and your pet.
