Holiday Safe Toy & Gift

The holiday season is finally here! Are you ready?  T

his list of Tips and Tricks for decorations, toys, and more will ensure you are indeed ready!

During the holidays, our lives become even more stressful as we juggle everything, and your pets can feel it too. Do your best to plan ahead, not overdo it and carve out time for your pet to help ensure you both enjoy the beauty and wonder of the season!

Candy and treats are abundant this time of year but should be kept away from pets. Other foods that need to be out of reach are chocolate, onion, bones, and grapes- and no holiday drinks for our furry friends : )

When you decorate the tree, secure electrical wires and consider which ornaments to hang within reach. Avoid tinsel, this can cause serious problems for your cats and try flameless candles this year.

During any gathering, create a calm place for your pet to go to escape noise and commotion.

Before you splurge, consider whether the toy you want to get for your pet is easily destructible, simple enough to play with, yet challenging enough for long-term interest.  Some of our favorites include traditional rope toys for interactive play and Kong brand hide-a-treat options for when you can't be there yourself.

The Flossy Rope is great for playing tug-of-war and it freshens up dog breath. Any rope toy where a pet is chewing (safely) helps remove plaque.

When it comes to treats, there are many DIY ideas that we love. Check that the ingredients are safe for your pet's dietary needs. These lovely toys from Good Housekeeping are very affordable, fun toys for your own pet and great for gift-giving!

Speaking of gifts, the holidays are a great time to show appreciation for your Pet Care Professional, whether they have cared for your pet throughout the year or just during the holiday season.
