Dog Bed Tips
Do you find yourself clinging to the edge of the bed every night while your precious pooch is sprawled out and in dreamland? If so, here are 4 great tips to help you get a good night sleep.
1. Make A Decision
First of all determine what rules and boundaries work with your (and your partner's) lifestyles. If there are no issues, a dog can sleep in your bed, but if your dog shows any guarding behavior or if it's causing problems with your human companions, it's time to take action.
2. Be Consistent
Be consistent. Whatever you decide, stick to it 100% of the time with no exceptions. Dogs get confused by inconsistency.
3. Try A Baby Gate
If you don't want your dog in the bed or bedroom, then try putting a baby gate up in your doorway. This way, your dog can still see and hear you throughout the night but isn't allowed access to the bed. This will help your dog with anxiety.
4. Be Prepared
Be prepared for a few sleepless nights. If you're changing the status quo, you must understand that your dog will take awhile to get used to its new sleeping quarters and may not be thrilled with the new regime at first, especially if he or she is used to being a third pillow on your bed.
