Choosing the Right Rescue Group

There are many types of animal rescue groups.  Some specialize in a particular breed; others care for a variety of animals, including cats and mixed-breed dogs. 

Unfortunately, there are some groups and individuals who call themselves “rescue organizations” but who are actually brokers or traffickers.  

The SPCA of Northern Virginia hopes you find your new family member among the dogs and cats they have available.

These tips can help you tell reputable groups from ones whose practices leave something to be desired.
