It's Rescue Monday!

Today's spotlight is not on a particular rescue group or animal welfare organization. It is on Petfinder.com, a virtual place where all such groups can come together to help animals find homes.

Petfinder.com is a website that is currently the temporary home of 249,000 adoptable pets from 11,793 adoption groups from across the country. Here you can search for your new friend by type of pet, location, or through a specific group or organization.

Here is one of their success stories.  Daisy Mae was adopted in February 2006 and her name was promptly changed to Dega (short for Talladega, after the NASCAR racetrack). She currently resides in Woodbridge with the Prince William County District Manager for Becky's Pet Care, Inc.

In addition, Petfinder.com offers advice on how to choose your new pet, helping him adjust to your home, and even has advice on key issues such as separation anxiety and housebreaking.

Petfinder.com even has its own tv show called Petfinder which currently airs at 9 pm on Saturdays on Animal Planet.
