Premier 8-hours class for Pet Parents and Pet Care Professionals including CPR techniques, first aid, health care and wellness information for dogs and cats. Additionally, the class includes PetSaver 40-page handbook and upon completion, each participant will receive a certificate and wallet card stating training is current for two years. Sometimes the unexpected happens…will you be prepared to take action when it does? Minimum age 14, participants only, no pets.

For pet parents, pet sitters, dog walkers, groomers, rescues, shelters & all pet care professions. What if an emergency prevented you from getting home to your pet? The best thing you can do is to be prepared so no family member is left behind.  Discussion includes the most common emergencies for you & your pets plus tips to guide your preparedness. Good oral hygiene can help a pet live up to 20% longer and save you money. By the age of 3, 80% of dogs & 70% of cats have some form of dental disease. Your pet’s oral hygiene is a health issue you can do something about. Learn potential health problems that can come from poor oral hygiene of your pet, signs & symptoms of pet periodontal disease, things you can do in your role as pet parent and what the role of your veterinarian is with your pet’s oral health. Get tips on brushing your pet’s teeth & other things you can do besides brushing. No actual work is done on pet teeth.

Are you a new, or soon to be new, Pet Parent? A new furry-family member brings lots of love and fun. You’re making a commitment to your pet for the life of your pet into its “golden years”. Do you have a proactive plan to keep your pet healthy and a happy member of your family? Animals age faster than humans do. There are three basic stages of your pet’s life. Each stage has different care and training to be done at home and by the veterinarian. Learn basics of the ages included in each stage as well as what to look for in each stage. Pet parents only.

Becky’s Pet Care has two Certified PetTech™ Instructors.  Combined, the instructors have 7 years’ experience teaching Pet CPR & First Aid and have taught hundreds of pet care professionals & pet parents the skills to help care for their pets.

Training Classes FAQs:

What is the difference between the PetSaver™ and the Pet CPR & First Aid Courses?

The PetSaver™ Program (8 hour Course) covers the following topics:  

  • Snout-To-Tail Assessment for Injury & Wellness
  • Canine & Feline CPR
  • Choking Management/ Rescue Breathing
  • Bleeding & Shock Management
  • Restraining & Muzzling
  • Assessing the Pet's Vitals
  • Pet First Aid Kit Contents
  • Insect Bites, Stings and Snakebite
  • Heat & Cold Injuries/Seizures
  • Caring For Your Senior Pet-izen
  • Oral and Dental Health

The Pet CPR & First Aid Course is a 5 hour class and includes all of the above, except Caring For Your Senior Pet-izen and Oral and Dental Health.

What do I receive with the class?

With the PetSaver and Pet CPR & First Aid Courses you receive a booklet, a felt muzzle and a certificate of completion showing your training is current for 2 years. With the other seminars, there are no materials are provided.

How old do I need to be to take the class?

The minimum age is 14 for all of our classes. It is recommended that those between the ages of 14-16 attend with an adult over the age of 18.

Can I bring my pets to class?

No. Personal pets are not permitted in the class, with the exception of Certified Service Dogs.

At the end of the class am I considered certified?

No, at the end of the PetSaver™ and Pet CPR & First Aid Courses you receive a certificate of completion indicating that your training is current for 2 years, but you are not certified.

The 2 hour seminars are informational and do not have a certificate of completion.

What is PetTech?

PetTech™ is the first international training program dedicated to CPR, First Aid & Care for dogs and cats.  The company mantra is “Improving the Quality of Pets’ Lives, One Pet Parent, One Click & One App at a Time.”™  They focus on providing resources to pet parents and pet care professionals providing training to develop Certified Instructors who can help teach emergency prevention and life-saving skills to pet parents through their PetSaver™ and Pet CPR & First Aid Courses. They are not an association, a non-profit, or other sanctioned organization. They are the leading authority on Pet First Aid, CPR and Emergency Care and Preparedness.

I have seen other PetTech™ Classes available online. Are they the same class as this one?

Yes. All PetTech™ courses are standardized using the same materials. Each instructor has their own unique style and experieces, but the course materials and content are the same. 

Do I need PayPal to Register for a class?

No. You can register online with your credit card. You do have to click on the PayPal button on the Registration page, but after you do so there is a place where you can bypass the PayPal log-in and use your credit card.

Can I sign-up on the day of the class?

Yes, all classes have seating restrictions, so you are strongly encouraged to sign-up in advance; however if there are seats available, you may attend the class as a walk-in. We recommend calling ahead to ensure there is space available: 703.822.0933. 

When should I arrive?

Please arrive 15 minutes early to receive your materials and to check-in. The Instructor will arrive 30 minutes prior to class and class will start at the indicated time. 

Is there any reason for weather or other that the training will be cancelled? How will I know? Will the class or seminar be rescheduled?

If the OPM Operating Status is CLOSED OR CLOSING EARLY, training classes and seminars will be cancelled and you will be notified via the email address you provided during the registration. For any other cancellations, you will be notified via the email address you provided during the registration, or you can call 703.822.0933. You will be notified of the make-up date for the cancelled training or seminar or you will be able to select from additional dates offered for the training within the coming 365 days.

What if I can not attend for any reason?

If you cancel at least 5 days in advance, you will be offered a credit towards a future class within the following 365 days. If you cancel less than 5 days in advance you will not receive a  credit. There are no refunds.

How will I know I’m confirmed for the course or seminar?

You will receive a confirmation email within 24 hours of your registration. You will receive an email from your instructor no less than 48 hours before the start of the course or seminar.

Do you have to take the 2 part classes on the consecutive dates?

Yes, you must sign up for the dates listed as a set for the 2 part courses. 

Are food or refreshments served?

There will be beverages and snacks provided during all classes. If you are taking the 8 hour class, it is recommended that you bring a lunch. The classroom has a small kitchen with a microwave and sink.

Can I bring my dinner or lunch to my training class or seminar?

Yes, you may bring a snack, drink or even meal. We realize for evening training you may be coming directly from work. Also, if you take the 8 hour PetSaver™ you’ll need a lunch as there are no locations nearby for food or drinks. Beverages and snacks will be provided.

Locations

Becky’s Pet Care Herndon:  433-B Carlisle Dr., Herndon, VA 22170. Located in Sugar Oak Business Park (just off the Fairfax County Parkway and Baron Cameron Ave.) It is located near the back of the office complex, roughly 1/4 mile after the entrace to Sugar Oak Business Park.  Parking is not restricted, you may use any of the spaces.

Becky’s Pet Care Alexandria:  7200 Fullerton Rd., Suite B-200, Springfield, VA 22150.  In the same plaza as Flight Tramopline park, off Fairfax County Parkway and I-95, on the far right of the complex.  Use the glass entrance on the corner of the building labeled 7200 A-B.  The Becky's Pet Care suite is on the second floor, accessible via stairs or elevator.  Avoid parking in the spaces labeled for Celio Furniture, they do tow.

Where can I park?

There are free parking lots at all training facilities.  In the Springfield facility, avoid parking in the spaces labeled for Celio Furniture, they will have you towed.

Are there Accessibility issues at any training facilities?

In the Herndon location, the class is held on the second floor of a 2 story office building with no elevator. There are a number of stairs to climb to reach the classroom. In the Springfield location, the classroom is accessible via stairs or an elevator.

Can I bring your Trainer to our facility?

Yes, if you would like to bring any of our courses to your facility, please contact us at Service@beckyspetcare.com or 703.822.0933. We will coordinate with our trainers to arrange the details for a custom training for your group. Custom packages and trainings are available.
