Dog rescued after seven years in the desert

The desert is no place for humans – let alone an adorable pet – but after spending seven years in one of the most desolate places on earth, a dog named Herc was rescued and brought back to health. Herc was found by D.E.L.T.A. Rescue, a non-profit that operates one of the largest no-kill animal sanctuaries in the world. When they found him he was very weak and had a fractured leg. He was taken to their facility outside of Los Angeles, California.

“Herc might be an extreme case, but we regularly come across dogs and cats in desperate shape who have been tossed out into the deserts and forests of the Southwest, and left to starve to death. Over 1,500 of these souls receive love and care daily at our sanctuary,” said founder Leo Grillo.

D.E.L.T.A. Rescue nursed Herc back to health and he is now barely recognizable from his former self. Through special care, coupled with a nutritious diet and medical attention, Herc is ready to begin the next chapter of his life at the animal sanctuary.

Every year, six to eight million animals are cared for by animal shelters, according to the Humane Society of the United States. Contact your local animal rescue shelter when considering adopting a furry friend. Source: animalrescuesite.comADNFCR-2796-ID-19811961-ADNFCR

“I’m an all-’round kind of guy. I’m housebroken, not destructive, playful, and friendly. My owner is being sent overseas, so I’m looking for a new home. One with a fenced yard would be nice, rather than an apartment or condo.” Loves kids, good with other dogs. He is 2 years old. for more information click here: http://www.spcanova.org/adoption/morepics.php?id=137
