April is Prevention of Animal Cruelty Month!

It’s a difficult thing to think of, but unfortunately it happens. Thirty-three states and the District of Columbia have passed laws that make intentional animal cruelty a felony charge. Intentional abuse is just that – hitting, choking, kicking, deliberate starvation, etc. Unintentional abuse comes from ignorance; the abuser does not know how to care for the pet. If you witness an act of animal cruelty in your neighborhood, contact your local authorities.  Report the incident to your local police department, animal control or humane society. Don’t forget to teach children to respect animals. Respecting animals needs to start young because acts of violence towards pets can sometimes be an indicator of violence towards people later in life.

Help us at Becky’s Pet Care stop the cruelty! In support of the ASPCA we are running our own “GO ORANGE” contest! All you have to do is take a photo of your pet wearing orange and post it to our facebook page www.facebook.com/beckyspetcare and you can qualify to win two tickets the HART Art and Silent Auction on April 17.
